As an alpinist, I particularly enjoy the beauty and challenge of ice cascades.
For this short but intense article, I will spend a few minutes presenting Helmcken Falls, the hardest ice cascade in the world.
This extreme ice cascade is located in British Columbia (Canada). His particularity? It is the most overhanging in the world. And for good reason, it is not the waterfall itself that is climbed, but its projections on the wall of a cave below that freeze to form giant ice stalactites.
To defy such a force of nature, nothing like the duo Tim Emmett and Klemen Premrl, certainly one of the most performing ropes of the moment with the “pull” ice axes. They proposed a quotation never encountered until then of WI 12 for this unique length of 80m that they named Interstellar Spice.
